When I got into web design, I had no idea or concept of how to get my websites to rank on Google and I didn’t understand the importance of SEO. I was focused solely on the “design” aspect of web design which, is important, but it didn’t take me long to realize that design is only half the battle. The rest is getting that site found online. Many of my client sites in the early days were nicely designed and crafted with care, but if they stayed on page 10…who cared?

Since then, I’ve learned how to appease the mighty Google and I’ve learned what makes search engines happy, how to structure website content so that it’ll get picked up in rankings and how to identify the best keywords to optimize sites for in a variety of industries.

I’ve also applied just the basics of SEO to my business site to help get found for inquires in my city and we’ve utilized many methods you’ll learn in this course to help get our clients to rank for their industries as well.
